Structure

In Ohio, county park districts are primarily established and governed by Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Chapter 1545. This chapter provides the legal framework for creating park districts, outlining the powers and duties of the board of park commissioners, the process for acquiring land, managing funds, and creating bylaws and rules to manage the parks and preserve the natural environment within the district.  In Fayette County, the county probate judge appoints five members to serve at Park Commissioners for three-year terms.

  • The Fayette County Parks and Trails District is UNFUNDED. Any financial support is from grants, city or county support, or private contributions. All financial accounts of the Park District are maintained by the Park District elected Treasurer. All funds under the control of the board are maintained by the County Treasurer & Auditor.

  • The Fayette County Park District meets on the 3rd Thursday every month at 11:00am at the 2nd Floor Conference Room of the County Building - 133 S Main St., Washington Court House, Ohio 43160 – Any meeting date/time/location change will be noted on the Park District Facebook page
